We collect the following information: your email address (for authentication via magic link), game progress data (stars, discovered countries, scores, streaks), device fingerprint information (for anti-cheat purposes), and anonymous usage analytics. We do not collect passwords — authentication is handled through secure magic links sent to your email.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to: provide and improve the game experience, maintain your account and game progress, detect and prevent cheating and abuse, send transactional emails (magic links), process purchases via Stripe, and generate anonymous analytics to improve the game.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services: PostHog (anonymous analytics), Neon (database hosting), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional email), Vercel (hosting and deployment), and Google AdSense for Games (H5 Games Ads) — specifically rewarded video ads shown only when a player chooses to watch one to recover a life. We do not show banner, interstitial, or display ads. Each service has its own privacy policy governing the data they process.
Cookies
STARKO uses essential cookies for: locale preference (starko_locale), authentication session management, timezone detection, and analytics (PostHog). We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes beyond what Google AdSense may set for ad personalization.
Data Retention
Your game data is retained while your account is active. Security event logs are retained for 90 days. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

Children
STARKO is an educational trivia game suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
